Signage, lighting and installation · Texas division of Modulex
J&A Signs & LightingThe site its owner chose, finally visible on Google.
The challenge
A signage company with clients across the country needed a site Google could finally find, without losing the design its owner had already chosen.
J&A Signs & Lighting designs, manufactures, installs and maintains signage and lighting. It runs an office in Fort Worth, a manufacturing plant in Mineral Wells, and it is the Texas division of Modulex. Its customers are brands, property owners, architects and contractors: gas stations, clinics, corporate offices, developments and government buildings.
Its site lived on a website builder, and when we checked, Google did not have it. The day we connected Search Console, the home page showed as "not on Google", other pages as unknown, and the sitemap had never been read. The business information Google reads was wrong, none of its 35 pages had a main title Google could recognize, and visible typos were live. The case studies page was a photo gallery with no client names, while real projects for Exxon Mobil or United Way sat hidden in the blog.
We first proposed a full redesign. The owner preferred to keep the site his customers already knew and add a new service. So the job changed: move the whole site off the builder, looking the way he wanted it, but fixed and ready for Google to find.
- Digital, off-site presence and DFW competitor audit
- Full site rebuild off the website builder (64 pages)
- Branding & Digital Solutions service page
- Blog and case studies rebuilt, with a new index
- Quick contact page and forms with email alerts
- Domain switch without touching email, with redirects
- Google Search Console, sitemap and indexing requests
- Post-launch performance audit
What we did
Step by step, from the problem to the published page.
- 01
We audited the old site, its presence on Google and in directories, and the DFW competition, and delivered it as a PDF report.
- 02
We designed a new site first. When the owner decided to keep his own design, we changed the plan and kept that work on file, unpublished.
- 03
We read every page of the old site on desktop and phone: 34 menu pages and 28 blog posts, with their text, photos and web addresses.
- 04
We rebuilt the home page with discreet updates, added a new page for the Branding & Digital Solutions service, and applied the corrections sent by the owner and his advisor.
- 05
We rebuilt the rest of the pages as sections that rearrange themselves on a phone, with the same text and images, and rebuilt all 28 blog posts in a design of their own.
- 06
We added motion that Wix can also reproduce, a full-screen photo viewer and a quick contact page, then checked all 66 pages on desktop and phone.
- 07
On October 19, 2026 we moved the domain to the new hosting without touching the company email, with a security certificate and old blog addresses forwarding to the new ones.
- 08
That same day we sent the sitemap to Google Search Console and asked Google to index the key pages, and the next day we ran a performance audit as the starting point.

Home
The same sections, photos, fonts and colors the owner already had, with discreet updates: "Based in Texas and working nationwide", typos fixed, and a home video trimmed from 100 to 45 seconds so it loads fast. Testimonials from Tricolor, Luckylane and Jefferson Dental now rotate with arrows, and 16 client logos follow, including ExxonMobil, PepsiCo and State Farm. A buyer sees on one page what J&A does, who it has worked for, and where its office and plant are.
- 02
About Us: The Company and Work With Us
The Company introduces the business and its real team with photo, name and role; on a phone each person becomes one card instead of loose pieces. Work With Us shows the four open positions as cards that lead to the full job description. A client knows who they will work with, and a candidate finds the openings without digging through the blog.
- 03
Modulex
Explains what it means to be the Texas division of Modulex: Danish heritage, global reach and one vendor from start to finish. We rebuilt it with the same text and photos, now arranged to read well on a phone. For a corporate buyer it is the proof that an international network stands behind J&A.
- 04
Services (11 pages)
One page per service: design and prototyping, wayfinding, project management, manufacturing, installation, site surveys, permitting, brand signage implementation, service calls, commercial lighting and gas station branding. Each has its headline, the explanation, photos that open full screen, the five steps of the process and a quote button. "Permitting" is spelled right, and the gas station page got the new headline suggested by the owner's advisor.
- 05
Branding & Digital Solutions
A new page for a new J&A service: website, Google presence and brand management for its own sign customers. It explains what each part includes, what it is for and how long it takes (first draft in 24 hours, page ready in 7 days, 30 days of follow-up), with photos of J&A's own work and straight answers. It ends with a short form that opens the visitor's email with their answers already written and keeps a copy for the company.
- 06
Products (5 pages)
Exterior, interior, custom, digital signage and environmental graphic design, each with its gallery of real jobs. Photos open in a full-screen viewer with arrows and a counter, and on a phone the gallery switches to two columns. The customer sees the real finish before asking for a quote.
- 07
Sectors (11 pages)
One page per type of client: mixed use and residential, corporate, healthcare, government, retail, data centers, education, hospitality, industrial, real estate and sports. Each speaks to that sector's problem and shows photos of the work. We fixed "Real State" to "Real Estate" on the page while keeping its web address, so nothing that already existed was lost.
- 08
Case Studies
It used to be a gallery of 39 photos with no client name, challenge or result. Now it shows 13 named projects, such as Exxon / Mobil, Digital Realty, United Way, Tricolor and San Antonio Court House, and each card leads to the full story: challenge, process, result and gallery. A procurement manager sees in minutes what kind of projects J&A has already delivered.
- 09
Blog
All 28 posts from the old blog, rebuilt in a design of their own: category, date, reading time, photos that enlarge, three related posts and a closing quote prompt. A new index gathers them and sorts them into case studies, articles and job openings. Old blog addresses forward to the new ones on their own, so nobody lands on a broken page.
- 10
Contact and Get a Quote
The Get a Quote button leads to a quick contact page where everything fits on the first screen: email, text, call and WhatsApp, in that order, plus a QR code that opens an email straight to the company. The original contact page keeps the map, the office and the plant, and now has a six-field form with spam protection that arrives by email. The customer picks how to reach out, and J&A receives every message.
